photoblog image A rescue attempt

A rescue attempt

Thank you all very much for your contributions and comments on this shot that I posted las week. I dug through my archives and I did find another take on the bridge that shows more reflections. So, I've cropped out the boring sky and made the picture more panoramic.

I realise that I didn't manage to centralise the bridge, but I hope my capture of buildings on either side compensates :D. What do you think guys? How could I have cropped this any better?

I really like this, the lights are beautiful and the surface of the water looks so smooth..almost like a sheet of glass.
Abisola Fatokun: Thanks Yinka. Good to know you appreciate this shot smile

Wonderful work on this one! The lighting is beautiful. And you didn't need to centralize the bridge. I think this shot is picture perfect!
Abisola Fatokun: Thanks Kay. Your comment definitely makes me feel good.

This is a much better shot than the previous linked one. The purple/blue/red lights on the boat at the bottom right give this shot some much needed interest. I love night shots. A really nice shot.
Abisola Fatokun: Y'know, I must admit that I didn't think about the gaily lighted boat drawing attention to itself in a positive way. That's another tip for the notepad :p. Thanks!
Thank goodness you did take more than one photo of the bridge. This one is a great improvement. You may just have cropped a little too much of the sky - I have a feeling that there's a bit missing from the tops of the bridge towers, but I am being pernickety now. The water and the reflections are good and the "purple boat" leads the eye right away from the bridge.

If you still have the original on the computer, go back and play with it, cropping with a little more sky left in, but as I said yesterday, the picture that gives you the most satisfaction is the right one for you. Good luck!
Abisola Fatokun: Thanks Sheila for your prompts and prods. I'm learning a lot from you! I did think my cropping was a bit too harsh, but I did it all the same. I will go back to the bridge once the weather improves and try my luck again smile Thanks again!
Beautiful. I like the tones of the image...
Abisola Fatokun: Thanks a lot ChaCha. Nice of you to drop by...
I definitely like this one better. In fact, I like this one a lot. The PP is excellent
Abisola Fatokun: Hey thanks a lot Fehinti. I'm pleased you like it. Actually, I didn't do any PP at all on this one. Just a crop. I don't trust my PP decisions yet. smile
tonnes better than the earlier attempt....
...PP my friend grin....
Abisola Fatokun: oya explain. What could/should I have done in addition?

10 sec shutter speed! Wow! Beautiful lights. I wouldn't mind a bit more sky though, the color of sky is also amazing. Great shot.
Abisola Fatokun: Thanks! I was actually advised to 'reduce' the skyline as it was so boring. I guess it's all a perception thing. Glad to know you liked it.
