photoblog image Not alone anymore. pah!

Not alone anymore. pah!

I saw this flower when I was walking down by the river and was wondering what it was called. I'm not very good at identifying them, even though I seem to be attracted to them.
Thanks y'all for your kind and supporting words the last couple of weeks :)

No PP on this shot, just some cropping.

Hi again. I'm almost certain that this flower is a Cosmos, a cultivated flower here in England. They have been one of my favourites since childhood, and it was a great pleasure to find them growing wild in Southern Africa when we lived there.

Pictures of lots of different varieties of Cosmos here - sorry I couldn't create a proper link.

Abisola Fatokun: Hi Sheila. Thanks for dropping by... and thanks for the quick education on the cosmos variety grin
Beat me to it, Sheila! My guess was cosmos too - I have a chocolate variety in my garden. Lovely capture of a delightful flower. (:o)
Abisola Fatokun: I wonder how the chocolate variety looks... (hint hint!) Thanks for dropping by. I'm pleased that you approve of this capture smile
What a great picture! Love it! grin
Abisola Fatokun: Thanks Tomas!
I like the blurry effect of the background - good use of DOF. Not sure what the flower is - it looks like some kind of daisy.
Ingrid
Abisola Fatokun: Thanks Ingrid. I've been told it's a Cosmos smile
nice smile
wat abt moving in closer next time and also taking the time to use ur tripod....
Abisola Fatokun: I know, Deji. Tripod would've been ideal except that I was taking a walk with friends and I don't think they would've appreciated my setting up the tripod!
